Be Contented 👍 |
Contentment is a state of satisfaction with one's body, mind and/or situation. To be satisfied implies having fulfillment of a need or desire.
Contentment is a virtue that everyone should clamor for because without it, destruction could be inevitable.
Even the word of God expressed the potency of contentment in the book of 1Timothy 6:6, "but godliness with contentment is great gain". Take note of the preposition, 'with', which denotes 'collaboration'. Therefore, it is possible to be godly and without contentment but could be of little or no gain; that is, you have a choice of determining how you want to end.
The Bible further explained the need for contentment in verse 7 of the same passage, "for we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out".
Having understood these facts, it is however, mind-disturbing that discontentment is a one of the major menaces in the society even amongst 'believers'. To be godly alone doesn't take you to the level of 'great gain', which should be the desire of everyone, but being godly and having contentment.
Discontentment, on the other hand, creates room for frivolous thoughts in our hearts which if incessantly harbored, leads to sinful acts such as; murder, envy, fraudulence, amongst others.
In addition, the 'love of money', which is the root of evil, becomes the inhabitant of the heart of such individual and with time, he/she begins to do anything just to acquire money neglecting the fact that 'human wants are insatiable' - the end thereof, is destruction.
In summary, you are better off than some other person(s) because there's someone out there somewhere wishing and hoping to be like you someday, so be contented!!!
